This is a very nice little unit. Wish the carry bag would hold all the cords but other than that its great.
maybe bacuse I don't batteries anymore - see below). and I mean all the time. I think we bought this 1.5+ years ago, and my daughter uses this all the time. Small enough that we carry it all the time when tarveling (god send with kids).The only down side is that battery doesn't hold changes anymore (like 5 min max now) after no that long. It's still working fine, unlike the other one we got before that broke down after maybe a year. The screen is big and clear, sound ok (althought it always defaults to very loud. so it's always plugged in now. Having a hard time finding a replacement battery.
I really love this DVD player. I use it all the time and it works just fine, however, the remote control does not appear to work. I bought new batteries and put them in the device and it's not working. Other than that, I'm happy with it.
I am a pretty responsible person and am anal about keeping the remote together with the player so this is not too big a problem for me given the remote continues to work. I got this GPX brand portable dvd player a couple days ago and am so far satisfied. I would give this product 5 stars even were it not for one annoying feature, or rather the lack thereof. But who wants to do this. I don't regret buying it but if I knew of the menu button issue beforehand I definitely would've picked a similar player that had such a button ON the player.And I don't use PAL discs so the player not being able to actually play those types of discs don't bother me one bit, false advertising or not. There is no menu button on the player itself.
The picture is pretty sharp, and the sound is decent. It does everything I expect it to. But I definitely see the potential for frustration.Some things I like include the carrying case and the screen. If you don't have the remote control or have lost it you won't be able to access the menu of your dvd while you're watching the feature. The only remedy I see to this is to skip to the very last chapter and fast forward to the very end forcing the menu to come up. And I didn't expect there to be a carrying case in the box but it came with the player which is very nice.So overall this product is okay.

What a bunch of nonsense. hooked up to a PAL TV.
The product description specifies it will play both NTSC and PAL. Just purchased GPX's PDL 805 to play Region 1 and 2 DVDs.
GPX's technical support told me it will play European DVDs only when. It DOES NOT.
I tried to get technical support from the seller (no luck) AND from the maker - GPX.com. Needless to say I didn't get a portable DVD player to keep it connected to a TV.
Don't buy it if you want to play PAL DVDs.
